Here at Decatur-Trinity Christian Church we desire to connect people to Jesus Christ through worship, discipleship, and service. At Decatur-Trinity we embody Christ centered values in our ministry. WORSHIP is the response of a grateful people to a loving God. DISCIPLESHIP is a life-long commitment to the person and teaching of Jesus Christ. SERVICE is a commitment to meet the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional needs of our community and the world. EVANGELISM is the sharing and proclaiming of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. PRAYER is the spiritual foundation of all believers. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has never forced a written creed on its members, rather allowing freedom of each individual. Our axiom has long been "no book but the Bible". Like all Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) ours is an open communion. We invite you to participate with us in the Lord's Supper each Sunday. Adult believers are baptized by immersion, although we accept all forms of baptism. We accept the "priesthood of all believers"; the doctrine put forth by Martin Luther that all baptized Christians are "priests" and "spiritual" in the sight of God. As 1 Peter 2:9 says, "You are a royal priesthood and a priestly kingdom," and Revelation 5:10, "Through your blood you have made us into priests and kings." We also worship God through the joyful strains of music and the innocence of children. Each Sunday service is accompanied by the Chancel Choir, singing both traditional and contemporary pieces, and a special moment for the children to come forward and sit upon the front steps of the sanctuary where they listen to a unique sermon composed just for them. At times we may also be graced by talented soloists and instrumentalists. During meaningful times of the year our congregation gathers for special services to praise those moments when extra attention is warranted. These special services include Laity Sunday, Youth Sunday, Palm Sunday, Pentecost Sunday, Easter, Friendship Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Service, Christmas Eve, and others.
